Sounders fans let not your hearts be troubled

For those of you worried about Thursday nights result in the first annual Charity Shield let not your heart be troubled. These pre-season games though important to all the players is still looked upon as a "pre-season" game, a game to get your legs back playing at Qwest field and one more game not to get injured before the season starts.

For the Timbers it’s a game where there was nothing to lose and everything to gain I mean surely no one expected a 2nd division team to beat our Sounders right? Remember the USL Sounders from a couple of years ago beating numerous MLS teams getting to the semi-finals of the Open Cup.....it can happen, but for most of us we believe the MLS teams should beat it rivals from the lower division. So what happened last night?? Though it was against a bitter soccer rival we have to remember how blessed we are to have the players we have on our team and the experience of the coaching staff and at the end of the day they wanted to keep progressing for the upcoming season PERIOD! No injuries against a team that obviously was going to come in and play 110% as you would expect and you get to see a few of the bubble players play at a fairly high level.

Our players have been a part of some very important games in their careers and this was just not that high on their list.....however once again I believe it was marketing genius by the Sounders front office to hold the first Charity Shield match this year. First off most people would have given the Sounders a great chance to win and get the first ever Shield but in the off chance the Timbers did win just wait until we see what that will mean for next year’s match when both teams will be full MLS quality teams. It will make for an unbelievable game and atmosphere. So I say, yeah probably wasn't the Sounders best game they've played, but I think we are in for another great year and with Vancouver BC and Portland (Errrr) coming into the league next year, this great ride known as Sounders FC has just begun....Enjoy
