Question:
What were the sounders thinking with the new 3rd
jersey?
-James from Tukwila
Answer:
Though my brother is part of the team, I’m not and I’m sure
he isn’t privy to those kinds of decisions.
I can only give you my 2 cents worth and you can take it as you want. So soccer throughout the world is big, big business and fashion is something that comes along with it. In fact many teams
throughout the world use their away or 3rd jerseys to get more creative with colors styles etc, remember when Barcelona played here a couple
of years ago and the official jersey color was I think “intense mango”.
Some jerseys work and some don’t and since this new jersey will be in our
stores in early December it’s too early for me to tell whether it’s a winner or
not. I guess Sounder fans will be the
judgeJ

When it comes to a third kit, I think a lot of teams (or the manufacturers) want to do something different and experimental.
Unfortunately, the Sounders' standard kits are already "out there" (silver bra straps, are you kidding?).
In my opinion, our 3rd kit should be simple and traditional or perhaps even retro. I want to be able to wear a jersey somewhere other than a match and not look like a total dork.
I also believe adidas is the one driving the design. The best way to show them your disapproval is to not purchase it.
